Higher Education Sport Festival In Ambo University |

Ambo University has been given the privilege to host the 5th Government’s Higher Education Sport Festival. The festival will take place between 4 and 19 February 2012. A new soccer stadium is now under construction at the main campus. The construction includes several multipurpose sport fields like volley ball, basket ball, hand ball as well as table and ground tennis. Dear first year students,
Welcome to this very pioneer institution. Ambo has a very good climate which is healthy to everybody, national or international. You will meet a very sociable, cooperative and kind people and you will learn about all from your seniors. I can dare say that you have come to a University which has got a long history and rich experience in teaching. The name Ambo University is derived from the name of the town “Ambo” and they are one and the same. Our university is a new one which is on the course of development and you many find some facility problems. But I believe we will solve all the problems being hand in hand.
You will meet very cooperative and hard working academic staff who is working to bring quality education and please work hard with them. I am sure they will help you a lot. Our administrative workers are also very kind and helpful and please ask them whatever you feel. Our doors are open, we are very much transparent and we are here to help you and please visit us and ask us whatever your problems are. We are always by your side.

Association’s Executive Committee Visit Ambo University |

Ethiopian Public Higher Education Institutions Sports Festival Association Executive Committee Visited Ambo University on 23 December 2011 to observe the preparation underway in the university to host the 5th festival from 4 – 19 January, 2012.
The Executive Committee led by the associations president, Zerihun Jemaneh, visited the two stadiums and other sports fields that are under construction in the University. The members of the committee also visited the stadium of Ambo town, which is meant to be used during the festival.
Members of Ambo University Management, Lake Wondimu, Academic and Research Vice President, Tadesse Kenea, Administration and Development Vice president, briefed the committee in the progress of the construction sites, and other preparations and facilities.
At the end of the visit members of the executive committee the management of Ambo University, representatives of Yotek Construction and the festival’s ambassadors of Ambo University to other universities came under the same room for discussion. They had an intensive discussion on what have so far been done and on things to be done in the future.

Ambo University Celebrates Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day
The community of Ambo University celebrated the 6th Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day of Ethiopia colorfully in the premise of the university on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
The management of Ambo University, academic and administrative staff, and the students of the university were in attendance of this celebration. Some members of the House of People’s Representatives, who were on working visit, were also among the participants.
At the beginning of the event, all the participants attended flags flying ceremony of the FDRE and the nine National Regional States. The ceremony was spearheaded by Dr. Mitiku Tesso, President of the university.
At the mean time, the participants commemorated the martyrs who struggled and sacrificed their lives to make this day a reality.
In his address to the gathering, Dr. Mitiku said that it is well known that there are more than eighty nations and nationalities in Ethiopia; however, because of the oppressions imposed on them by the former regimes, they could not exercise their culture publicly.
