About Journalism and Communications Department
The Department of Journalism and Communication was established in 2017 at Ambo University with two staff members to promote media education, research, and practice in Ethiopia. It has since grown to eight staff, including two PhD holders, five MA holders, and one assistant lecturer. The department provides both academic and practical training, with students gaining hands-on experience through internships at EBC, FBC, and the Ethiopian Press Agency. Many graduates now work in national, regional, and private media outlets. With its expanding capacity and strong partnerships, the department continues to play a vital role in preparing skilled journalists and communicators while advancing academic programs and research.
